Dr. Garrett Gilbert is a board-eligible orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in sports medicine. He specializes in the care of athletes and active individuals of all ages, with a focus on arthroscopic techniques shoulder and knee surgery.

After graduating medical school from Kansas City University, Dr. Gilbert completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Ascension Genesys Hospital in Grand Blanc, MI. Dr. Gilbert completed his sports medicine fellowship at Sano Specialty Care, a high-volume, high-mentorship experience where he cared for athletes ranging from high school to professional levels. Training internationally broadened Dr. Gilbert’s perspective on patient care, exposing him to alternative surgical approaches and diagnostic philosophies that now inform a more well-rounded approach to evaluating treatment options.

Dr. Gilbert believes in partnering with patients—whether they’re athletes or active adults—to create personalized care plans that prioritize movement and long-term health.

Dr. Gilbert is committed to helping patients return to activity safely, using advanced techniques and a team-based approach. His clinical interests include ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repair, sports injuries, and joint preservation.  He is accepting new patients at Sano’s Parkville office.
