sano recap

Providing the right care in the right setting at the right time remains central to our mission of building a healthier community. To meet the rapidly changing demands of the healthcare landscape, we continue to pivot, adopt new solutions, and maintain a patient-centric focus.

2024 has been a transformative journey for us, driven by a dedicated team and a shared belief in our mission. We made significant strides toward our mission through new services, expanded facilities, and innovative programs—all designed to make care more accessible and impactful for our patients.

Expanding Access with More Orthopedic Urgent Care Locations

This year, we opened two new orthopedic urgent care clinics in Parkville and Raymore, bringing our total number of walk-in clinics to four. These clinics are a direct response to our goal of creating accessible care, allowing patients to receive timely, specialized treatment when needed. Whether addressing acute injuries or getting a last-minute sports physical, our ortho urgent care network ensures that quality care is always within reach.

4 Ortho Walk-In Clinics:

  • Overland Park
  • Raymore
  • Lee’s Summit
  • Parkville

Launching General Surgery and Bariatric Surgery Services

In 2024, we welcomed six general surgeons to our team, further enhancing our ability to serve patients with emergent and elective surgical needs. We opened an office in Independence to service this specialty. Additionally, we introduced bariatric surgery to our list of services. By adding advanced options for weight-loss surgeries, we’re helping patients take control of their health in transformative ways.

Our general surgeons introduced a convenient in-office procedure to place the Eversense 365 Continuous Glucose Monitoring (CGM) system, the first and only FDA-approved 365-day CGM.

Growing Vascular Services

Our vascular division saw remarkable growth this year with the addition of three established surgeons: Dr. Figueroa-Vicenty, Dr. Wible, and Dr. Laurich. Their expertise allows us to provide state-of-the-art treatment for a wide range of vascular conditions, offering patients life-changing care through innovative techniques.

Strengthening Our Orthopedic Team

We expanded our orthopedic team with theswab patient exam addition of five physicians. With the addition of Dr. Wityk, Sano now offers foot and ankle specialty services, including podiatry. Dr. Carroll, a long-time orthopedic surgeon in south KC, joined Sano in January. Dr. Woyski and Dr. Swab helped open Sano’s office in northern Kansas City. Finally, Dr. Farrell joined us in June, bringing his comprehensive joint replacement and functional medicine approach to Sano.

We opened our Raymore and Parkville offices to accommodate our growth and desire to be accessible throughout the KC metro.

Supporting Sports Medicine and Athletic Communities

Sano deepened its connection to the athletic community in 2024. We proudly sponsored Rockhurst University, Monarchs Baseball, Avila University, and Blues Rugby, while also partnering with Harrisonville and Oak Grove schools to provide athletic training services. These partnerships reflect our ongoing commitment to keeping athletes healthy and performing at their best.

Launching Our Sports Medicine Fellowship

This year marked the launch of our first-ever sports medicine fellowship, an important step in advancing medical education and innovation. The fellowship is part of the SANTI (Scientific ACL Network International) collaboration, an international group of sports medicine experts that works together academically to perform research and advance the profession of sports medicine to prevent and treat injuries.  Under the leadership of Dr. Daggett and guidance of Dr. Dempewolf and Dr. Witte, this program is dedicated to training the next generation of specialists, ensuring that our community continues to benefit from cutting-edge care.

Looking Ahead to 2025

Wow, what a year! As we reflect on the milestones of 2024, we recognize that our growth positions us to serve an even greater number of individuals in the coming years. Sano’s evolution is a continuous journey, and we are excited about the prospect of making a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of our community in 2025.
