What is Deep Vein Thrombosis?

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) is a condition where blood clots form in the deep veins of the body, often in the legs, and can have serious consequences if the clots travel to the lungs.

Are You at Risk for Deep Vein Thrombosis?

Understanding and managing the risk factors for DVT is key to prevention and early treatment, especially for pulmonary embolism. Here are some risks:

  • Inflammation of the vein (phlebitis)
  • Leg ulcers
  • Inactivity and prolonged immobility
