Dr. Brian Schmidt is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon with more than a decade of experience specializing in biomechanics, sports medicine, trauma care, limb salvage, and the correction of complex deformities. He is passionate about helping patients regain mobility and return to the activities that matter most to them—whether that means competing at a high level, staying active on the weekends, or simply getting back to work and daily life without pain.
As a former collegiate athlete, Dr. Schmidt understands firsthand the physical and emotional challenges that come with injury. His own experience in sports sparked a lifelong interest in musculoskeletal health and recovery, giving him a unique appreciation for the goals, timelines, and expectations of athletes and active individuals alike.
Originally from Wisconsin, Dr. Schmidt attended the University of Wisconsin–Stevens Point, where he played collegiate basketball before pursuing a career in medicine. He earned his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine degree from Des Moines University and completed his residency training at the William S. Middleton VA Medical Center in Madison, Wisconsin. There, he cared for some of the most medically complex patients, gaining extensive experience in preventing, managing, and treating challenging foot and ankle conditions and complications.
Dr. Schmidt has built a reputation for delivering thoughtful, compassionate care that is tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals. He believes in exploring practical, evidence-based conservative treatments whenever possible before considering surgery. When surgical intervention is necessary, he takes a comprehensive approach that considers the whole patient, drawing on his extensive training and experience to achieve the best possible outcomes.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Schmidt enjoys spending time with his wife and their three children, making the most of family adventures outdoors and an active, healthy lifestyle.
